Middlesbrough 1886 – 1890 Retro Home Shirt

A unique shirt from the late 19th century, featuring rather unusual White Polka Dots on the Blue Collars. A genuine one sold for almost £20,000 in April 2023 and is thought to be the oldest shirt ever discovered still in one piece. The shirts were solid white, and featured a crest with the Lion who represented the Brus Family. They had a considerable holding after the Norman conquest in Northern England and South West Scotland from whom Robert the Bruce descended. This unique crest has been embroidered to the chest sitting proudly on the shirt. While it is unlikely that the badge would have featured in such detail on the shirt, it is the closest one available to that era.
