In what was the 41st FA Cup Final, Barnsley contested the trophy with West Bromwich Albion. After a replay, Barnsley finally over cane the Baggies with a one nil victory in extra time. Inside forward Harry Tuffnell brought the cup back to South Yorkshire, a feat that has only happened once in Tykes history. We commemorate that famous occasion with a a replica polo Jersey. Solid red in colour and a crest that features the towns coat of arms. What we see is a falcon with a padlock and two boar’s heads with crosses. They belong to the arms of the local families of Locke and Beckett. The items in the chief stand for Monk Bretton Priory, a Cluniac foundation dating from 1157; the arms of the Priory were two silver cups and a cross on black. The shuttles and pickaxes represent local industries. Althought this was worn in the 1910 FA Cup Final v Newcastle, there is no evidence to suggest it was worn in the 1913. It is however the closest crest that was available and would have been worn should finances had been available. We have added the FA Cup trophy in Gold and the words “FA Cup Final 1912” for authenticity. Such wording often appeared on various shirts throughout the FA Cup, date dependant.
